Almost a year and a half ago, we had the privilege of meeting Abby and Tyler at Tyler’s brother’s wedding, which we were photographing!! If you remember seeing Kelsey and Justin’s wedding in February 2022, then you’ve also seen Abby and Tyler before! 😉 Friday, Abby and Tyler reversed roles with Kelsey and Justin, and they became the bride and groom! They’re officially Mr. & Mrs. Melton now and are our second Mr. & Mrs. Melton to be a JLP couple!

Abby and Tyler asked us last year when we met them if we’d travel to Raleigh…at that point they weren’t even engaged but knew it was coming!! Fast forward a few months and all the details came together for us to be there! It is an honor to be asked to document such important days, and even more of an honor when we get to spend it with some of the same people TWICE!! It was a fun little reunion with friends and family!! It was so much fun seeing familiar faces on Tyler’s side and we felt so very welcomed by Abby and her family. Such a great group of people who made us feel so loved and appreciated! When our clients tell us that they wouldn’t have wanted anyone else documenting their wedding day, that’s the best compliment we could ever want!

We loved shooting at a new-to-us venue!! The Maxwell has alllll the gorgeous indoor light with lots of huge windows, which made getting ready photos a breeze! When we first got to the venue, it was VERY sunny, so we were a little worried about the minimal shade on such a hot June day! However, as the day progressed we had a little shade on the side of the venue which turned out to be just what we needed! It worked flawlessly for first looks and portraits! We had sun the rest of the day up until the ceremony…RIGHT as Abby was walking down the aisle with her dad, there was a big cloud rolling in and some thunder in the distance! Their ceremony took place without a drop of rain, and we quite literally ran through family portraits! We made it through all but three combinations of family photos in SIX minutes (yes, we checked the time stamps haha!!) and then the sky opened up!! It down-poured as we took shelter inside to finish up family photos (which we finished right in front of the beautiful flower-adorned mantel…a perfect back-up option!) and not 10 minutes later, the sky was clear again and there was a full rainbow above their ceremony site!!

The rest of the evening was spent indoors in the gorgeous reception space, with dances, heartfelt and hilarious toasts, and of course a party! Oh, AND ice cream!! Can we say yes to more ice cream in lieu of cake this year??

Abby and Tyler, we’re so thankful we got to celebrate with you two!!
