Greystone Inn Wedding in Lake Toxaway, NC

When we first met Lauren and Herb and heard about their wedding plans at the Greystone Inn, we didn’t know the background behind this special place to them. However, after hearing from their friends and family on Saturday, we will say there was truly no better place for them to start their marriage!! During a toast from Herb’s best man, Ryan, he explained that every time he and Herb passed by the Greystone Inn, Herb would remind Ryan that someday he was going to get married at that location. With a family house on Lake Toxaway as well, Herb spent a lot of time in the area.

Meanwhile, Lauren had been living in Chicago for many years, and despite her late nana’s hopes of Lauren marrying a “southern boy,” everyone else assumed she would continue living in Chicago! However, 15 months ago, Lauren made the move back down south to Greenville, SC! At the time, Lauren’s best friend Amanda was also living in Greenville, which was a great incentive for her to take up a new residence, as well as being immersed back in the southern ways of life. However, Amanda had plans to move to New York City which separated the two and Lauren assured her that if she didn’t find a husband within a year of living in Greenville, she’d join her in NYC soon! That never happened, however, because two weeks after living in Greenville, Lauren met Herb. And you can guess how this story goes!! Herb took Lauren to the Greystone Inn for dinner on their first trip to Lake Toxaway, so when they got engaged, Lake Toxaway was the obvious location for their wedding! On Saturday, they became husband and wife in this very spot! A full circle moment for sure!

They were joined by their closest friends and family, who were the most supportive group we’ve been around! From the cheers all evening at any moment possible, to the heartfelt, well-written toasts (seriously the best we’ve ever witnessed!!), to the packed dance floor, they were Lauren and Herb’s biggest fans! And we are too!

Lauren visualized the perfect colors and details to go along with their lake-side wedding. Their beautiful florals by Laurel Creek Florals were organic and whimsical to compliment the surrounding scenery, with just the right amount of elegance for our classy bride! Oh, and they had pops of blue which always makes our hearts happy!! Lauren’s satin, long-sleeve dress couldn’t have been more stunning for a sunny, sixty-degree, spring day! You truly can never go wrong with timeless, and Lauren embodied that!

Looking back at the photos, you may feel like you’re in a different part of the world at times! With the Greystone Inn’s historic architecture and charming landscape, we were definitely getting the old-world wedding vibes! There is a sense of peace and calm when you see the Inn situated on top of a hill, filled with so many special people for Lauren and Herb. It was as lovely as it looks!

Herb was full of emotions for his bride the whole day which was PRICELESS. There were tears shed at their first look, but that didn’t put a damper on his emotions as Lauren walked down the aisle either…which had everyone in tears!! Accompanied by a harp and strings, Lauren’s walk down the aisle with her father was the epitome of simplicity and elegance. If we hadn’t been so focused on capturing the emotions of everyone around us, we wouldn’t have had dry eyes either!!

Saturday was an honor, and a wonderful ease into wedding season ahead of us! Mr. & Mrs. Dew, y’all threw an amazing party with the help of your incredible team of vendors! We smiled until our cheeks hurt and then smiled some more!! We love y’all!
