Rachael and Blake met in Boston, where Rachael had gone to school and Blake was located due to military commitments, even though they had spent most of their lives in completely different parts of the country. Rachael’s dad shared that while growing up in small towns in Louisiana and Arizona, Rachel had always aspired to life in the city, and her decision to attend college in Boston was the fulfillment of that long time dream. He expressed that his only concern was who she’d meet across the country and whether or not they would share her vision for life. When Rachel introduced Blake as a Texas native, her family couldn’t have been more thrilled that the two had similar backgrounds and it was evident that these two were meant to be together! Despite their time in Boston being the starting place of their relationship, Rachael and Blake knew that they wanted to have a wedding celebration somewhere quiet, elegant, and aligned with their southern roots.
They toured multiple Charleston venues on their trip to the low country (Rachael’s first trip EVER) to choose where they’d get married, but immediately knew Legare Waring House was the winner! We would have to agree that it’s one of the BEST venues out there! It’s secluded from the bustling city and it’s full of EPIC locations! It’s no wonder so many destination weddings happen here!
Due to a few changes in the timeline on Friday, we ended up a whole HOUR ahead of schedule. Any wedding vendor will tell you, this NEVER happens! It felt a little crazy that we had that much extra time, but we took our time to photograph all the events of the afternoon and we really enjoyed it. We finished early, and it turned out that the extra hour was PERFECTLY timed to avoid an afternoon rain storm!! We definitely knew God’s hand was in that timeline because otherwise we would have only been halfway through the necessary photos when the rain hit! It was an unexpected rain shower, but thankfully Rachael and Blake had an amazing team of vendors who stepped in to rain-proof their ceremony and reception set up in record time, and you’d quite literally never know!!
One of our favorite photos from the day was (obviously) their instagram sneak peek cover photo, and it made it in this post, of course! Blake picked Rachael up for a photo and we said, “can you spin her??” These two did it flawlessly and we will always be so thrilled when our couples are up for any photo opportunity!
We’re huge fans of the little things that elevate wedding days, and Jessica with YOJ events made those designs happen! The patterned Stradley Davidson linens added an eye-catching element to the space and the Charleston Flower Girl took “classic” to the next level with some beautifully unique florals. We love a classic color palette that is taken to the next level with small touches of FUN! And you know that these beautiful florals and details looked incredible for an al fresco dinner outdoors!
Rachael and Blake, we are so honored that we got to capture your wedding day in the low country because it was DREAMY!
