If you’ve followed along for a while, you know our family goes to Amelia Island for our yearly beach vacation! We’ve been going here our entire lives to visit our extended family that lives here and hit the beach for a week! However, I don’t think we’ve ever truly soaked up vacation like we did this year. The past few months have been exciting and BUSY, so a week away from home and the normal tasks of everyday life was such a relief.
We charged our phones every other day. We didn’t get on Instagram for a week. Checked our email a few times to make sure our people were taken care of but then logged back off. Hung out with our family. Slept in more times than we’d like to admit…Aaaand got really tired of being sandy and salty at the beach haha! Surely we’re not the only ones who max out their sand tolerance after about 5 days LOL?? Don’t worry though, we still got our beach time in and spent more than a few hours on boogie boards and braving some big waves! If you’re gonna go to the beach, you’ve gotta go full send right?!
There are a few things that are quintessential to Amelia Island. First of all, SPANISH MOSS. Yes, we’ve been to Charleston. And Beaufort. And Bluffton. But nothing compares to that Amelia Island moss!! Driving the golf car around for hours under the oak trees is definitely our favorite afternoon entertainment. Second, I’m not sure if this is only news to the non-locals, but there is a road deemed the “peacock road” that is home to peacocks, and if you’re lucky, you’ll catch a sighting! We took a detour one day and it brought back all our childhood memories!! You can see photo proof below 😉 The Surf restaurant is another Amelia Island must! Shrimp tacos were definitely one of our favorite meals of the week!
We stumbled upon a park this week that was full of beautiful lookouts and locations to explore! The dock into the marsh was definitely giving us Lowndes Grove vibes!! Catching a sunset at this spot every evening is definitely on the list for next year!
