So, you’re engaged, you’ve hired your wedding photographer and your engagement session is coming up! Maybe the two of you have done sessions before together, or maybe this is the first time you’ve ever been in front of the camera! We know there can be so many questions that come up about your session, with one of those being what you should wear! We wanted to create a resource that would help to answer some of these questions! We hope this information is helpful to anyone picking outfits for their engagement session!
1. Dress up, then down
Most of our couples choose to wear two outfits! We usually suggest starting with something more dressy (think dress for the girl, khakis & a button-up for the guy!) and then changing into something more casual (think jeans and a cute top or sweater!).
2. Neutrals with a pop of color
If one of you is wearing a color, we suggest the other one wears a neutral. Grays, white, & cream are great contrasts with pinks, purples, blues & greens!
3. One pattern, one solid
Once again, if one of you is wearing a pattern, it looks best if the other is wearing a solid color.
4. Wear something you feel comfortable in
If you have a dress you love and feel AMAZING in, wear it! If you feel confident in what you’re wearing, you will feel way more confident in front of the camera!
5. Flowy dresses
if you arrive in a flowy dress of any type, it’s guaranteed we’ll love it! It might sound crazy, but a dress can add so much to the look and feel of your photos!
6. Accessorize
Statement earrings, necklaces, watches, bracelets, scarves, hats, cute shoes, and in the winter wearing layers (jackets, vests, pullovers) are great ways to take your outfit to next level!
