Callawassie Island + the contagious joy of these two made for an afternoon of laughter and inspiration! This Callawassie Island engagement session took place on the most charming island with serene views of the water and a tight-knit community residing there. Something we have begun to pinpoint about ourselves after traveling to new cities is that small towns have our hearts! Callawassie is just South of downtown Beaufort and has the same quaint, coastal charm. When Ashley Anna was describing the island to us she mentioned Spanish moss & docks by the water, along with the fact that since it has private residences, there wouldn’t be many other people around. The Lowcountry showed off on this October afternoon! The pairing of the coastal scenes with the relaxed and carefree nature of these two made us smile so big the entire time. It was truly an afternoon that made us remember how much we love our job & how blessed we are to get to meet people like Ashley Anna & Matt!!

We love when our couples choose a location for their session that they have frequently visited. We have watched this happen many times and will stand by the fact that the more familiar our couple is with the location, the more relaxed they are, which equals the most joyful & candid images! Not only were they relaxed and in their element on the island Ashley Anna grew up visiting, but they kept their focus on one another the entire time.

Ashley Anna grew up vacationing on the island, Matt proposed to her there this past summer, & their wedding is taking place there in 2024, so it was only fitting that this special season was captured on Callawassie as well. We spent the afternoon wandering the island with these two…from the clubhouse to the docks to a mid-session bike ride, we had a blast getting to capture the essence of this place that means so much to them.
