We love the Lowcountry!! This Beaufort engagement session was a mix of locations in the charming historic district, along with coastal scenes at a nearby beach and we really couldn’t have asked for anything more! Beaufort has quickly moved to the top of our lists for favorite cities in the Lowcountry… It is so quiet and calm, without missing out on any of the charm of quaint houses, trees draped in Spanish moss, & waterfront views! Our first time in Beaufort was a year ago in October of 2022, when we visited for Kirstin & Kyle’s Wedding. We can honestly say that we can’t believe we hadn’t been here sooner because it is just the best.
The perfect engagement session includes a few things: An epic location (bonus if there’s Spanish moss), fun outfits (Lauryn’s first dress with ruffles was a fave, but her second outfit added such a fun pop of color to their beach photos too!), a couple who isn’t afraid to laugh & have a good time, AND a couple who trusts you with any ideas you have for epic photos…We’ll just say that this session definitely checked all the boxes!! The “epic shot of the day” (scroll to see it!) involved dropping Jacqueline off on the side of the road so she could shoot the whole dock with the boats behind it, while Lauryn and Clay strolled beside one another!! 100% worth it and 100% epic!
Lauryn & Clay are Greenville locals like us, but Lauryn grew up vacationing on Fripp. She knew she wanted to make their engagement photos happen in Beaufort & we’re so glad she and Clay were up for an early morning road trip to meet us there! We started on Bay St to capture the Spanish moss trees (would you ever guess that this spot is actually along the side of the road?) and then we headed to a nearby beach to finish the session. The beach was not one we had been to before, but we knew it was the only one that was close by and not 30+ minutes away so we decided to give it a go. Calling it a “beach” was a little bit of a stretch as it was definitely more like a small patch of sand that was half-way flooded when we first arrived. However, none of those factors stopped us & we ended up LOVING the final images from this part of the session!
Lauryn & Clay “knew of each other” in highschool, however they didn’t start dating until college. They got engaged in March almost 7 years exactly to the day of their first date. So special! We cannot wait for the June wedding next year!
