Laura and Matthew’s wedding at Legare Waring House took place on a Monday and we are officially all-for weekday weddings!! We love Mondays around here, so what a great start to the week! As we walked up to the house, Matthew waved us down and we got to hear about their weekend spending time with friends and family in Charleston and learned more about Laura & Matthew’s relationship! Matthew was the calmest groom ever and after we met Laura a few minutes later, we learned that she’s the exact same way! They’re both genuine, trusting, and relaxed.
Laura and Matthew both worked in Hospitality at the JW Marriott Hotel in Orlando, Florida and met through their jobs. Their friendship turned into a relationship at this point and they made the move to DC to continue. They currently reside in Maryland and wanted a location that was central to Virginia, where Laura’s family lives, and Florida, where Matthew’s family lives to celebrate their marriage. With Charleston right in the center, it was an obvious pick!
We loved Laura’s invitation suite with a hint of blue, her pearl earrings (we’re big fans of pearls!) and her dainty jewelry. We got to hear the most amazing story from Laura’s mom about her necklace that we knew we had to share!! The gold necklace was Laura’s baby locket and it was actually LOST for a majority of her life. It has her birthdate engraved in it, but it went missing for over 20 years. However, a few weeks ago, her mom was looking through the buttons in her sewing box and found it!! And it now has her birthdate and wedding date engraved in it and Laura wore it as she became Mrs. Boyle on Monday! How amazing is that??
Laura and Matthew shared a first look and it had us grinning from ear to ear. Matthew’s first reaction was “1) how did you get in that? 2) You look awesome 3) How are you gonna dance in this??” Haha! Don’t worry, Laura definitely still danced the night away! Nothing a little bustle can’t fix for an 8-foot train! But it sure was gorgeous for the rest of the day!!
We did portraits all around Legare Waring House and Laura and Matthew were so calm that we flowed right through a huge variety of photos! You get married in Charleston for those Lowcountry vibes and Spanish moss and we made it happen, y’all!! When we went inside later on after wedding party photos and family photos, Matthew suggested taking a few portraits indoors. And we LOVED that idea. These historic homes turned venues have beautiful rooms inside and we jumped on the chance to capture that! And their portrait below from inside was definitely a favorite from the whole day!! Don’t miss that one!
Their ceremony took place under the Oaks, and was accompanied by some beautiful words spoken, a unity ceremony, and Laura’s bridesmaids singing “Come Thou Fount” which was beyond amazing and resulted in quite a few tears from the audience!
Finally, it was reception time! Laura and Matthew opted out of cake and instead had Beignets, a nod to their first trip they took together when they went to New Orleans! And they were DELICIOUS. Wow!!
Laura and Matthew, it was an honor to be there with y’all!! We loved every second!!
