When it pours rain on your wedding day and the signature sunset wedding portraits at Lowndes Grove aren’t possible, you make plans for a future evening. Although we walked away from Kendall and Dylan’s wedding with hundreds of beautiful images (including over 100 portraits taken during a rainy dusk!), we knew they deserved the golden glow and epic views that only their venue can provide. We suggested a post-wedding sunset session and they were all in. We picked a date and prayed for sunshine—and Charleston delivered. These two deserved the dreamiest, sunniest evening, and they got nothing less.
Lowndes Grove is more than just a wedding venue—it’s a Charleston icon. With its centuries-old oak trees, stunning views of the Ashley River, and the timeless charm of its 18th-century architecture, the estate offers a backdrop that feels both grand and Southern. The light at sunset glows across the waterfront and wraps around the house in a way that makes every image feel magical. For couples like Kendall and Dylan, it’s not just a location—it’s part of the story. After their engagement on the property during a sunny winter afternoon last year, we knew we wanted them to have wedding portraits that were just as vibrant. And on that rescheduled evening, with golden glow flooding the lawn and quiet sounds of the marsh nearby, we captured everything we had hoped to document.
Even when wedding day weather doesn’t go as planned, there’s still a chance to capture magic—especially when it comes to wedding portraits at Lowndes Grove. We documented this unforgettable evening with digital, drone, and film photography—and we’re so excited to finally share it with you!
